Climate Change, rising global temperatures and habitat destruction threatening the lives of Polar Bears are overwhelming concepts for a child. It's more important that we, and especially children, feel connected to what's right, just because it's better for our environment. By now, we all know what the problems are, what's causing it and frankly, we're over the debate. Here's five ways to focus on doing good.
1.) On the next family trip to the grocery store, let the kids say no to plastic at checkout.
2.) This school year avoid the car loop completely. Let the kids organize a bicycle group and be the parent that chaperones.
3.) Recycle religiously. Keep a seperate container inside the house for paper and non-food items and let the kids be responsible for taking it out.
4.) Take meatless monday one step further and let the kids photograph their plant based protein meal. Share it on social media and let the kids engage with friends who compliment their efforts.
5.) Buy less. Let the kids subscribe to commercial free television so they don't learn to want things they dont need. Help them shop for things that do good for the environment. Let the kids support organic and sustainable products. Stay away from stores that tempt children and go instead to the park for recreation.
I'm a mom of two perfect kids and two fluffy English Mastiffs named Lilo & Stitch. I love to write, draw, paint, plant seeds, raise butterflies and make things! My Etsy is all organic and handmade by me. Our family loves the outdoors and so it's important that I contribute to a healthy environment and clean water by choosing sustainable materials.
